Ferrall – “2019 can’t come soon enough”

NEW Redlegs vice-captain Alison Ferrall says Friday night can’t come soon enough, as the Lady Legs kick off their 2019 campaign against North Adelaide.

After falling marginally short in the Grand Final last year, Ferrall is confident that the side is ready and prepared to face the Roosters after a tough and gruelling pre-season period.

“We are looking really fit after what has been a gruelling pre-season,” Ferrall said.

“As a team we know what we want to achieve, so we need to be prepared to work hard to gain success in 2019.

“We are confident that we have built a strong base under us leading into the season and can’t wait to get out there on Friday night.”

With a number of changes to the playing list, Norwood has welcomed a number of new players into the club in 2019.

Despite losing some key personnel, Ferrall believes Norwood’s new recruits will play a major role for the Lady Legs this season.

Norwood has brought in former Adelaide Crow, Sophie Armitstead, Canberra duo Najwa Allen and Hannah Dunn as well as youngsters Hannah Priest and Tahlia Meyer.

“With another big turnover in players, the new girls have already fitted well into the Redlegs culture and the way we want to play,” Ferrall said.

“Hannah Priest has had two really strong performances in both trial games as well as Tahlia Meyer who has been a real ex factor with her pace and line breaking ability.

“Hannah Dunn and Najwa Allen have also been excellent since arriving in Adelaide.

“Both girls are training really well and will bring a different dynamic to the way we play in 2019.”

“Overall, it’s an exciting time to be around the club as we head into our first match Friday night.”

Norwood’s Lady Legs face North Adelaide in Round 1 of the SANFL Statewide Super Women’s League Season on Friday February 15 at City Mazda Stadium beginning at 6:00pm.
