Norwood Senior Women’s Coach, Steve Symonds says his side is motivated and ready to attack the 2019 season after the disappointment of falling in the 2018 Grand Final earlier this year.
After a tough end to the 2018 season, the Lady Legs have begun preseason training with high hopes of returning to the big dance next season.
With a number of new arrivals and departures to its playing list, Symonds believes his girls are ready for the fight in 2019.
“For us last year is last year,” Symonds said.
“We are completely focused on the 2019 season and getting our game back up and going again.
“Last year we were a bit inconsistent, so that’s something we want to really improve in our game next year.
“Leading into Christmas as far as condition wise, we are probably going into the break the best we have out of the three seasons we have had.
“The girls are very focused at the moment, with the clear goal in mind of winning a second SANFLW Premiership.”
Norwood will be without some key players for next year’s campaign with the likes of Whitney Benson, Nicola Burns and Rhianna Peate all leaving over the summer.
Despite losing some key personnel, Symonds believes that his latest recruits will have a major part to play with a host of talented youngsters joining the group for 2019.
“Despite losing some quality players, we are really impressed with our new recruits from Morphett Park,” Symonds explained.
“Hannah Priest and Tahlia Meyer are both looking really sharp on the track with their skills and running ability.
“We’ve also recruited a couple of young girls into our women’s program such as Bella Smith who is part of the State Under 18 Squad along with Isabella Steven-Thomas.
“Not only will these young girls hold us in good stead, but they will complement the likes of Leah Cutting and Monique Hollick who have been training exceptionally so far this preseason.
“Overall, the morale and cohesion of the list is starting to come together, and we only hope will get stronger in the lead up to Round 1 on February 15.
Norwood’s Lady Legs face North Adelaide in Round 1 of the SANFL Statewide Super Women’s League Season on Friday February 15 at City Mazda Stadium beginning at 6:00pm.
